Highland House

Authentic Period Home, Streatham

134.3 sqm / 1446 sqft

Our clients in Streatham wanted to retain the period feel of their new home to create a tailored and timeless design, with layering of textures, influences from Feng Shui and an authentic feel. The main focus was on elevating the formal reception and sitting room and designing joinery to create spaces to present their books and ornaments from their travels.

We introduced some panelling in the hallway and landing areas to enhance the existing period features and designed some joinery for the front reception in a similar, contemporary-classic style, with seagrass wallpaper back panels for warmth and texture. The flooring was all retained, and sanded and re-stained to bring it back to life.

In the study, we opted for a forest green colour scheme and designed a storage joinery to house office equipment and showcase the client’s ornaments and art. The existing fireplace was elevated with black marble insides and the desk was a vintage find.

Serene Guest Bedroom

In the guest bedroom, we carried on the calming, earthy tones and textured seagrass wallpaper. We reused the client’s existing bed and built a colour scheme to work around it. The signature long bed cushion is bespoke by Pia Design (visit our shop for the full collection).

In the informal lounge, we designed more contemporary fitted joinery to house the TV and create extra, hidden storage. We kept the colours very light and neutral to allow the client to introduce their own personality into the schemes and to allow flexibility to update the look over time.
